Self-Love Prompt: Day 10

And we’re still going!

Quick recap: for me, May of 2020 is all about self-love. I’m really capable of getting down on myself, so I’m trying to be kinder and embrace a more self-focused positive attitude. Each day, I’ll be working from one of the prompts from Tia Harding’s 32 Self-Love Journal Prompts or from The Petite Planner’s 30 Days of Self-Love.

Here’s today’s prompt: “Look at your hands. Write something positive about them.

My hands? How am I supposed to write about my hands?

I’m a lefty, so I’m forever getting ink smears and pencil smudges on everything or left with residue on my hands when I write with a pen or pencil. My hands are good hands. They want to learn to play the piano. They’re small, but strong. They often hold other hands, in support or affection. They help deliver piping hot tea to me, so I love them for that, too.

They draw, crochet, help me type and get work done. They do laundry and dishes, clean the catbox and make the bed. My hands are endlessly useful.

My favorite quote about hands is from Audrey Hepburn:

As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”
