Of Desks and Duolingo

724 Days Straight on Duolingo

I’m always conflicted, just a wee bit, when I log on to Duolingo to study Esperanto. I feel like I should be learning Spanish, or French? A… I guess what could be considered a “useful” language.

But I love Esperanto. I have a copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland with Through the Looking Glass: and What Alice Found There that is in both Esperanto and English. I’m not even possibly fluent yet, but I’ve got a sturdy grip on the basics.

But I learn it for the joy of it. And while I sometimes hop back to Spanish or French, I don’t have the love for those languages yet. I’m working on it. Right now, I’m allowing myself to have fun learning.

I have a lot of stress on my plate and really need to find outlets for it. Learning Esperanto is one of them, writing another, and crocheting another still. I just wish I didn’t feel guilty about it.

Izzy came back to work today. She still wasn’t feeling well but couldn’t miss any more work. And I moved desks to a larger desk and learned something new! So work is going well.

My pain levels are pretty damn high though. I’m keeping dinner down because I took anti-nausea meds before dinner. Which, I mean, is good because I don’t want to ruin spaghetti with red sauce for myself.

I’m going to to do some stretches and go to bed.

Take your meds, folks.
