1 Grand Adventure with my Darling Mellon
Date day, this morning, kicked off about an hour after it was supposed to. We both slept in till almost eight. We were trying to be on the road sometime after seven thirty.
Oh, well. Fun was had, regardless of the timing of today’s adventure.
Once I ran through the shower, we headed out to fuel the car and run through the car wash. We hit Taco Bell for a breakfast burrito for them and a disappointing breakfast quesadilla for me. And then! On the road again! Off to Chi-town we went.
We drove to Mitsuwa Marketplace for some quick munchies and the amazing Asian marketplace. Such an awesome place. We had some pork belly and some chicken and green onion yakitori, some delicious grilled meat on a stick!
Then we wandered around the marketplace, picking up some more Japanese style curry, a mango juice for Mellon, and some cola-flavored gummies for me. We didn’t hit the bookstore this time, but that’s okay. We got some fresh pastries in the bakery and then headed to the next location for our culinary capers: to Sushi Station!
I’ve never been to a conveyor sushi restaurant before. It was quite an interesting experience. Well worth the drive with attentive servers, delicious food at a good cost. I got tamago, the slightly sweet egg nigiri, to kick off. And then two orders of a four piece spicy California roll, some fresh gyoza, some pieces of a non-shrimp having spicy roll. And then, of course, I had to try something new that I knew wasn’t going to make me sick. It was semi-fatty tuna nigiri, so just the thick slice of tuna over formed rice. It was… tuna-y, but not entirely to my liking. But I tried it!
When it comes to sushi places, I love the Philly and spicy rolls, and I like tempura veggies like sweet potato, broccoli, or mushrooms. And rolls with tempura-fried protein that doesn’t try to make me sick. Shrimp makes me sick, but I love the taste of it. But crab, lobster, and clams do not make me sick? I’ve never understood it.
Then, continuing in the “new places” vein, Mellon and I went to Cheesecake Factory for dessert since they’ve never been. I got the pumpkin pecan cheesecake and Mellon got lemon meringue cheesecake. So good, but I’m glad I keep my Glipiside in my purse, because we totally should have just shared a piece. Oh well. I made good choices during the week. And I’m making food this week that is going to be healthy.
My Strix sharpshooter, Haruhi Hitlock, is straight up murdering enemies with her critical shots today. Deadly d12s are awesome. I did 88 hit points of damage in one shot on a natural 18 + my 30 point modifier! But we’re wrapping up and I can’t wait to get home to bed.
Mentally, I’m doing okay. Stuff’s in flux, as it always seems to be this time of year. But! But Off the Hook of the Witch is going to be going live on the equinox. I’m so excited to be trying to grow my digital audience.
Tomorrow is cleaning, laundry, and video chatting with J, with maybe a nap and some reading.
Anyway, I’m tired and hoping we wrap up soon.
Take your meds, folks.
