Of Salsa and Separation

4 Days Til My Birthday

I need to get an oil change tomorrow. And not perish from stress and anxiety.

Today is the second anniversary of my mother’s demise. For many reasons, I had a therapy appointment today.

I am just keeping on keeping on right now.

At least tomorrow is Wednesday?

Take your meds, folks.

  1. I stumbled upon your blog when searching for Rules of Magic reviews and trigger warnings and then rabbit hole…so here are a few things:
    1. Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability in sharing your mental health journey. Mad respect.
    2. I love the media tests you use and want to explore those further! A wonder is if the age dif between V and neighbor goes against the Hays code part three? I may not be understanding that test correctly.
    3. I’d like to share a link and shout to your blog and Rules of Magic in my Fable audiobook club, Between Two Ears, as it will be our July pick. I know it’s yet another app but it is a positive reading community whose “mission is to deliver the world’s best social experience with exceptional stories in service of mental wellness”. It’s really added a lot to my life in the past year. I hope you have capacity to check it out. You can find me on there as Hessikins. There’s nothing promotional about it. I’m in it for the intellectual engagement and community.
    4. One of my favorite surrealistic fiction authors is Amy Bender. I listened to her The Butterfly Lampshade novel recently and it is a remarkable, empathetic portrayal of the dynamics and impact of a mental health challenges on a mother/daughter relationship. Highly recommend. (I’m sure you’ve heard of the newer Lisa Genova realistic fiction, More of Less Maddie, too?).

That was a lot, but just wanted to share. And I do. Take my meds, that is.

Hope you have found moments of comfort and peace today.
